'Borrow a bucket' - which provides free-to-use beach toys for islanders and holidaymakers on an honesty basis - has found stocks depleted this summer.
The founder of 'Borrow a Bucket' recently put out a plea on social media asking the community for help in ensuring the toys are returned for future use.
The boxes operate on an honesty basis. The toys can be used for a day on the beach and then returned for the next child to use.
It prevents single-use plastic, toys from being left on the beach, and waste.
They welcome donations from islanders and corporations, and their first port of call is to encourage donations of preloved toys.
Founder Louise Carson is worried that toys are going home with people, or left on the beach and washed away. She wrote:
"For the first four summers we were able to maintain good levels of toys in our boxes with your help. This year everything has been a little more difficult.
"The toys from our boxes are going missing at a really quick pace.
"We have had unprecedented success in procuring toys with amazing sponsorship from local businesses, and yet our boxes are still often empty.
"For example, almost 100 footballs have been placed in our 12 boxes this year and they are not there now (photo of the designs attached). We have been refilling the boxes today. We do this monthly but our amazing volunteers go to clean rubbish and broken toys out much more regularly.
"If we can’t resolve this then with great sadness we may need to make it the last year for our beach toy boxes."
Speaking to Channel 103, Louise said that since the post, they have had a great response from people who want to replenish the boxes:
"Someone from Jersey Heritage got in touch and gave me a huge pile of buckets, and corporations have got in touch.
"One lady phoned to say she had left two big bags (of toys) in the box at St Brelade.
"People are passionate about keeping the scheme alive.
"If the toys stay in the box come October time, and we have enough to relaunch next year, then we will."
