Airport Drive-Thru Test Centre To Close

Jersey's Airport drive-thru Covid testing centre is to close for now, with appointments being redirected to the harbour.

It's due to reduced demand because of policy changes, including fewer tests for people who are contact-traced and greater use of lateral flow testing.

The government says it can and will reopen if capacity requires.

Testing of arriving passengers is not affected.

“We continually review our testing programme, to ensure it is fit for purpose. Due to recent policy changes, demand for testing at our drive-through has reduced. These policy changes include, for example, the roll out of Lateral Flow Tests to businesses, and for Direct Contacts in households, emergency services, critical infrastructure and care sector.

Because of the reduced demand, we will be shortly offering all drive-through and ‘walk-to’ test appointments at the Harbour testing site. This includes Direct Contact PCR tests, pre-admission screening and PCR testing for symptomatic individuals who are able to travel by private car." - Government of Jersey.

Coronavirus cases peaked at 3,170 on 26 July.  Latest figures show 499 people are known to have the virus.
