£6 zoo entry for people on Income Support

People on Income Support are being offered cheaper entry to Jersey Zoo.

£6 tickets are being introduced for islanders who might not otherwise be able to visit the wildlife park.

They need to be bought in advance online, providing proof of receiving the benefit on arrival.

Jersey Zoo says it wanted to make visiting the animals more accessible, and its initiative aligns with other leading zoos across the UK, including London Zoo, Edinburgh Zoo and Chester Zoo, who have introduced special tickets to make sure their sites are inclusive to all members of the community.

Terry Woodhouse, Head of Retail and Visitor Experience, said:

"We want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy a fantastic day out at Jersey Zoo, reconnect with nature, learn about Durrell, and support us in our mission of saving species from extinction."

The Income Support ticket has been developed in collaboration with local services and community organisations, noting that customers preferred the privacy and convenience of ordering tickets in advance.

The zoo has also introduced new categories of child tickets:

Child admission prices:

Aged 3-10: £10.50 (£9.00 when booked online in advance)

Aged 11-16: £16.50 (£14.40 in advance)

Entry remains free for children aged 2 and under.

Adult entry is £21.00 (£18.90 in advance) and concessions £18.90 (£17.01 in advance)
