A 17-year-old girl has been sentenced to one year's youth detention for attacking someone with a machete.
The teenage girl, who cannot be named because of her age, will spend a year in custody at Greenfields Youth Detention centre after admitting grave and criminal assault.
She confronted her victim at his home in St Helier last November.
Jersey Police say he suffered 'significant injuries' to both hands and has been left with long-lasting scars.
At a court appearance in April, the girl pleaded guilty to grave and criminal assault, admitting to possessing the machete, but she denied intending to use the weapon to cause harm.
Passing sentence, Jersey's Royal Court also handed her a three-year restraining order.
