In a letter to teachers, the NEU has suggested industrial action could involve 'calling out two schools per week'.
NEU members will have until the end of December to vote on potential industrial action - including a walkout - over their pay dispute.
If supported by a majority, that action is likely to start in January and affect a couple of schools each week.
NEU Regional Officer Andy Woolley will be in the island next Wednesday to address staff at a meeting at the Radisson.
The union is also telling teachers not to undertake any work that would normally be done by teaching assistants, who are striking between 9 and 11am on Friday.
