St John Constable Chris Taylor has temporarily stepped aside from his Ministerial duties after being charged with dangerous driving.
It relates to an incident in June 2019 - and in a letter to the Chief Minister, Constable Taylor says he strenuously denies the allegations.
However, he adds that in the interest of the government, he feels he should step aside as Assistant Chief Minister to avoid any unnecessary distraction.
The Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, agreed with the Constable's request - and says he hopes the matter will be resolved without further delay.
