Progress is being made on the Victor Hugo Centre on Guernsey's seafront, after enough money has been raised to fund its capital costs.
The team behind the build is preparing planning permission for the former Tourist Information Centre along the St Peter Port seafront.
It is understood that this could be submitted this summer, with work beginning as early as Easter next year, if all goes to plan.

The Centre will be split into three sections.
The ground floor will be a performance, event and exhibition space, to showcase the community's talents, followed by a museum and interpretation space about the famous French writer on the first floor and finally a learning hub on the top floor.
Chair of the Victor Hugo Centre, Larry Malcic, says he is inspired by Guernsey, as was Hugo:
"That sense of an island of creativity continues today with a thriving creative community, and we want to showcase that community to become an education and cultural hub for the whole island.
"What we're doing now is developing ways in which to show what the centre can do.
"Hugo referred to the island as the rock of hospitality and freedom in his novel about Guernsey, and we want the whole world to recognise that Guernsey remains that rock of hospitality and freedom for both its residents and visitors."
