The Cox family has thanked the Alderney community for their support following the suspected murder of 34 year old Hannah Benfield.
The family run the Farm Shop on the High Street and Jean's Stores at Braye, and describe their staff as more like extended family.
They say their daughter Hannah would have wanted them to keep trading and keep serving the people of Alderney, so they have decided to re-open.
They say the last few days, since a major search operation found Hannah's body at the bottom of the cliffs at the Giffoine, have been 'unimaginably painful.'
The family has thanked islanders for their 'kindness, messages, hugs, offers of help and simple acts of support' which they add 'have meant more than we can say'.
"We’re looking after each other, getting through this together and doing what we know Hannah would want us to do."
Guernsey Police remain in Alderney investigating how the 34 year old mum died, and are assisted by officers from the UK and Jersey.
A 44 year old man is still being held on suspicion of her murder.
