The owner of the 'Predators in Guernsey' Facebook page says violent threats made them briefly consider shutting it down but instead the team is expanding.
In November 2025, a Guernsey resident began a Facebook page called Predators in Guernsey.
It shares photos and details of convicted sex offenders on the island, with the aim of 'informing and protecting the community'.
People have had mixed reactions, with some supporting the page and others criticising it.
Yesterday (17 February), the owner told their nearly 4,000 followers that abusive direct messages were becoming overwhelming.
When they spoke to Island FM, they said that the situation has affected their mental health.
"I have had people threaten to smash my face in, petrol bomb my house with me, my kids and my partner inside.
"Unfortunately, people have found out who I am running the page, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, apart from people making fake accounts to send me threatening and abusive messages anonymously."
A few hours later, after receiving supportive messages, the page owner posted:
"I have added four new admins to this page.
"I will keep this page up. I didn’t realise how much people really did care about this page.
"I’m hoping myself and the admins can tackle these 'preds' together, having help will take a massive load off me.
"Feel free to message this page at any time, one of us will answer, but for now I will take a step back for a little bit just to have a breather."
Meanwhile, a petition has been set up to implement a public sex offender register in Guernsey.
"My petition is doing well, I’m currently on 625 signatures.
"I believe Guernsey needs to get off their high horse and give the public a public sex offender register, as thousands of people who follow my page didn’t know half the people I have posted, and I get messages constantly, with more historical and recent predators to be posted. It’s sickening."
