Guernsey Police is investigating, and a man was arrested after a body was found in Alderney.
In the early hours of this morning (28 September), emergency services, including the RNLI lifeboat, were called to the south-west cliffs at the Giffoine, known locally as The Guns.
There, a body was discovered.
The person has not been formally identified, but a 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of committing murder.
He is in police custody, but is receiving treatment in hospital.
Detective Superintendent Jonathan Bancroft has asked the public to refrain from speculation while enquiries continue.
Anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Guernsey Police.
