Southampton Flat Gifted To Guernsey Families

Jo Priaulx with daughter Danniella, stood next to Property Manager Dean Allen outside Frankie’s Den.

The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation has been gifted a third flat near Southampton General Hospital to offer to Guernsey families with seriously ill children needing off-island treatment.

Ken and Linda Acott say they heard about PPBF's work when they met the founders, Jo and Andy Priaulx, in 2015.

Hearing that the PPBF's first two flats, Aggie’s Burrow and Isaac’s Pad, were in almost constant use, the couple approached the charity with the idea of buying another flat in a similar location.

They purchased ‘Frankie’s Den' (named after their late pet cockapoo) on 16 February 2023. It is located in the same block and floor as Aggie’s Burrow.

The property cost roughly £180,000, with around £50,000 budgeted for additional renovations.

Mr and Mrs Acott have said they will cover the entire cost.

Ken says they look forward to seeing the flat being used around June:

“It gives us enormous pleasure to gift this apartment to the Foundation and to enable them to support even more Guernsey families at what is the most worrying and stressful of times.

We fully appreciate the concerns and difficulties those couples and families face having had personal experience of the same issues in the past.”

Charity Founder Jo Priaulx says this extra property will allow them to help a lot more families going through a difficult time:

"A lot of people think it's just prem babies, but we do help critically ill children up to the age of 18. They can stay in the flat for as long as they need. I think it's important that islanders know that they can go somewhere and make it their home.

We're decorating it now, there's a new kitchen going in and a new bathroom. So lots of work going on but these flats will serve the community for many years to come.

I'd like to personally thank Ken and Linda for what they've done."
