New cigarette bins with a difference have started popping up around St Peter Port.
The 'smoke signal' bins let people use cigarette butts to take part in polls on issues affecting islanders.
One asks whether Liberation Day events should make a return to St Peter Port, while another more light-hearted one encourages smokers to predict which island will be victorious in this weekend's Muratti - Guernsey or Jersey.
The ballot bins have been organised by the St Peter Port Douzaine to combat the increasing number of cigarette butts dropped on the ground.
Despite offenders being liable to pay a £70 fine, cigarette ends remain Guernsey's most-littered item.
Parish Douzenier, Odette Duerden, was on the sub-committee that worked on the project:
"The St Peter Port Douzaine hope that by adopting a different approach the problem can be resolved and we can engage with the community along the way. We have received lots of fun and even some thought-provoking questions and we’re looking forward to seeing the responses."
Anthony Court, from the States' Traffic & Highway Services department, says he thinks this could make a difference:
