Officers have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of burglary from the Town Church.
A break-in late on 10 January saw money stolen from the Town Church collection box and thousands of pounds worth of damage caused to the wooden floor.
Guernsey Police launched an investigation and arrested a 39-year-old man last night (14 January).
Enquiries are ongoing and officers are still asking witnesses to come forward.
Island FM spoke to The reverend Penny Greysmith about the damage.
"The individual who entered the building decided to pull our very very heavy donations tube, which is a significant piece of furniture, right across the building.
There is significant damage to our 200-year-old beautiful wooden floor, which was restored fantastically in October 2023, its first restoration for over a generation."
