Last day to register for Guernsey's upcoming by election

The island's electoral roll closes at midnight on 25 April.

Wednesday's by election will see 11 candidates vying for just the single seat left vacant following the imprisonment of former deputy Jonathan Le Tocq.

Colette Falla, the Registrar General of Electors, reminds anyone that is eligible to vote for the first time on 29 April (they must have turned 16 on that day) that they have until midnight tonight to sign up:

"We've seen the number on the roll increase.

"We think that there are a number of people who have turned 16 and are eligible to sign up."

Colette says in addition to first time voters, residents who did not register on the electoral roll last year can do so today:

"If you go to byelection2026.gg there's a button there to join the electoral roll, click that and enter you details and it can be done really easily."

"Polling day is next Wednesday, 29 April. There will be four polling stations: Beau Sejour; St Martin's Parish Hall; the Vale Douzaine Room and the Cstel Douzaine Room and no voter ID is required."
