Three athletes have been chosen to represent Guernsey in "prestigious roles" at the opening ceremony on 8 July.
A 49-time Island Games medallist, Tom Hollingsworth, has been chosen as this year’s Guernsey Flag Bearer.
At the opening ceremony of his eighth Games, the swimmer will lead Guernsey's team of more than 200 athletes alongside the 22 other competing jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, two newcomers have been selected as Guernsey's Water Carriers.
Indoor bowler Catherine Bonsall and swimmer Hannah Kennedy will present water collected from local shores to be combined with that from the other islands. This tradition is a display of unity and solidarity.
Chairman of the Guernsey Island Games Association, Brian Allen, says the athletes should be proud:
“We're thrilled both a returning champion of the Island Games and two new faces are representing Guernsey as Flag Bearer and Water Carriers this year.
Both are significant roles in the Games and link the present day to the competition’s rich history. We know that this year’s team will represent our island with pride and wish every athlete the best of luck this year.”
