Serving deputy Jonathan Le Tocq pleaded guilty in Guernsey's Royal Court this afternoon, 4 December, to all 15 charges against him.
Deputy Le Tocq appeared in person in Guernsey's Royal Court, where he admitted making more than 2,000 indecent images of children.
More than 200 were in the most severe category, A, and nearly 500 were in category B, with more than 1,700 in category C.
A number of these are described as 'pseudo images.'
Deputy Le Tocq, 61, also admitted sending an indecent image of a child and several indecent messages.
The senior politician resigned from the Policy and Resources Committee in September but is still, at the time of his Royal Court appearance today, on the States' payroll.
Deputy Le Tocq was for some years Guernsey's Chief Minister.
Since then has been the government's Foreign Affairs lead, regularly representing Guernsey at numerous engagements in the UK, France, Brussels and the Middle East.
He was arrested by the Police in Guernsey on 21 July, was charged in late August, and has spent the months since then on remand in prison.
He has been returned to prison and will appear before the Royal Court for sentencing in late January.
