Guernsey and Jersey to explore joint working on affordable housing

Executives from Andium Homes meet with members of Guernsey's Committee for Housing.

Andium Homes is Jersey's largest affordable housing provider and since its formation in 2014 has built more than one thousand homes.

It is 100% States of Jersey owned and is responsible for more than 5000 properties.

Andium's senior management team met with Guernsey's Committee for Housing earlier this week to exchange best practice and its head, deputy Sasha Kazentseva-Miller says there is a desire to work more closely:

"We were impressed to see how much Andium has achieved since its incorporation.

"We will keep the dialogue and exchange of information going and explore opportunities for joint working as we look to deliver significant numbers of homes to meet our island’s needs.”

The CEO of Andium Homes, Lindsay Wood says the visit showed there is plenty of shared ground:

"Whilst our Islands have their own unique identities, we also share many challenges and opportunities, giving us plenty to learn from one another."

The meeting came days after planning permission was granted and the finance put in place for 70 affordable apartments in the Charroterie in Guernsey, now known as Court Falaise.

French company Group Legendre will be the lead builders.
