The construction of Guernsey's first Wildlife Hospital has entered an exciting new phase.
The GSPCA's Big Build officially began in May 2025.
Contractors have spent two months demolishing the old buildings, and now trenches are being dug and concrete is being poured for the foundations of the new one.
The Animal charity's Manager Steve Byrne says it is an exciting time.
"Laying the foundations for the Wildlife Hospital is a huge moment for us and for animal welfare in Guernsey.
“Every year, we help thousands of wild animals, and this facility will give them the best chance of recovery and release back into the wild."
The GSPCA has raised £1.5M out of the estimated £3.7M needed for the project.
Steve says the Bailiwick is a caring, animal-loving place, so he's certain that with some help, they'll hit their target.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the Big Build so far, but we still need help to bring this vision to life.
"Whoever supports this build will be helping the wildlife, not just now, but for generations to come."
Completion is scheduled for November 2026.
