A new exhibition at Candie features five decades of the work of Chris George.
Known locally as Georgie, the photographer has snapped thousands of people around the Bailiwick, and "50 Years of Faces" honours this.
Guernsey Museum reached out to offer him the opportunity to display his favourite portraits in his 50th working year.
There are more than 250 photographs in the exhibition, with some printed, hundreds projected, and many linked to their original newspaper articles on gallery iPads.
Georgie says it was hard to choose from the half a million images in his archive.
"I left school to work as a photographic trainee in 1975, so a retrospective in 2025 felt like the right milestone moment for an exhibition.
"Back when I was starting out, there was no social media or internet - photographs were central to broadsheet media and often the main way people received their news.
“As well as being a highly nostalgic view of 50 years of photographs, I believe that people relate to people, and that’s my hope for why they’ll connect with this exhibition."
Head of Culture & Heritage Services, Helen Glencross, says the exhibition is unique.
“We are extremely grateful to Chris, who has spent a huge amount of time and energy on this project.
"He has been incredibly generous in sharing both his images and memories.
"We are proud to showcase his career and the impact that he has had in documenting Guernsey life over the decades.”
Islanders will be able to see the lifetime work of Chris George until 31 December.
