Driver jailed in Guernsey’s first ‘serious injury by dangerous driving’ case

A 34-year-old man has received a prison term and driving ban, following a drunken collision on Guernsey roads.

Matthew Luscombe has been jailed for four months and banned from driving for four years.

On social media, Guernsey Police shared some details of the case.

They say that after colliding with another vehicle and causing serious injury to the driver, Luscombe failed a roadside breath test, which showed he was double the legal limit for alcohol.

This is the first time someone in Guernsey has been charged with causing a serious injury by dangerous driving, which has only recently been introduced as an offence.

Police shared this message:

"This is a prime example of the impact the irresponsible decision to drink-drive can have on innocent people.

"Don’t be selfish by risking another person’s life. Don’t drink and drive."
