Deputy Tina Bury Resigns From HSC

Health & Social Care Committee Vice President Deputy Tina Bury has stepped down, saying she is unhappy with a a lack of appetite for change in some areas.

In her resignation statement, Deputy Bury says there have been disagreements between her and the committee.

"It is with regret that I submit my resignation as Vice President and member of the Committee for Health & Social Care.

You will be aware that the way the department handles some of the various challenges it faces hasn’t sat comfortably with me and my personal values for quite some time.

Despite my best efforts within the Committee, I have seen little appetite for change in some areas. With that in mind, and at this stage in the political term, I believe there is no benefit me continuing in the hope that things might improve.

I’d like to thank you, and our close working colleagues, personally for the support, understanding and reasonable adjustments made to accommodate some of my personal circumstances.

While these personal factors have shaped my perspective, they are not the primary driver of my decision to resign."

As a member of the Guernsey Partnership of Independents, Deputy Tina Bury was elected for the first time in 2020.

She will now focus her attention on  her work on Employment and Social Security and wider States' business.

Deputy Bury has declined to comment further or answer Island FM's questions about her resignation.
