Deputy Inder apologises for raising middle finger to GST protestors

The head Guernsey's Planning Authority has admitted making an obscene gesture at the entrance to the Royal Court.

Campaigners against GST were gathered on the steps of the building as politicians arrived to continue debating tax reforms and the proposed consumption tax.

One took to social media to report that Deputy Neil Inder had raised his middle finger to them.

"Deputy Inder walked up the courthouse steps while protesters were gathered outside. He entered the courthouse, closed the door behind him, then turned around and gave the middle finger to the people standing on the steps outside."

He called it 'completely unacceptable behaviour, and said he and others who were present would be filing a complaint about the States Member’s conduct.

A short time later, Deputy Neil Inder himself took to Facebook to address the accusation and admit to making an obscene gesture.

He said abuse was being hurled at him and his colleagues, and that he has experienced other incidents of physical threats.

He has apologised for his actions, saying it was "below par and it won’t happen again."
