As the changing weather affects driving conditions, Guernsey Police are checking tyre treads and the general condition of vehicles on our road.
Bailiwick Law Enforcement is running an operation to ensure islanders are safe behind the wheel.
There will be 'high visibility' speed and condition checks across the island.
The force says October is a month where the weather turns, roads are often wet and scattered with leaves and other debris.
BLE says drivers are responsible for making their drive safely according to road conditions and that their vehicles are fit for use.
"Tyres, for example, need to follow the requirements for minimum tread depth to minimise the possibility of people losing control of their vehicles, and drivers must watch their speeds to ensure they can stop in time if a car in front of them suddenly breaks."
In the first week of the extra checks, two vehicles have been seized for being in a dangerous condition.
One had a tyre with next to no tread.
"If you are willing to put other road users at risk through driving negligently, or by driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition, we will respond robustly to keep all other road users safe."
