Sir David Beckham has refused to answer questions on his relationship with his son at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
On Tuesday, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham broke his silence about his estrangement from his parents, saying in a post on social media he does not want to reconcile with his family.
Asked about his son's statement in Switzerland on Tuesday by Sky News business correspondent Paul Kelso, Sir David refused to comment.
He was asked if he had a message for his son and if he was disappointed that family business was being aired in public.
In a statement shared on his Instagram story, Brooklyn offered his explanation for the alleged rift.
The 26-year-old wrote: "I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private.
"I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life.
"All we want [is] peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family."

What Brooklyn's claims tell us about the Beckham rift
Brooklyn, the eldest son of footballer Sir David and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, married Nicola Peltz in 2022. She is the daughter of American billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner Peltz.
The couple live together in Los Angeles.
Sir David, who is now co-owner of Inter Miami CF and has made millions from endorsements and commercial partnerships, was in Davos recording a podcast.
'Children are allowed to make mistakes'
Speaking about the economy and the sports business with CNBC, Sir David was also asked about young people and social media use.
Pointing to his role as goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, as well as his relationship with his own children, he said: "I've been able to use my platform and following for UNICEF, and it's been the biggest tool to make people aware of what's going on around the world for children.
"I've tried to do the same with my children, to educate them, they make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes, that's how they learn... but you know you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well."
'Posh and Becks' - Britain's best known power couple
The former midfielder received his knighthood for his services to sport and charity from the King at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle in November.
He married his wife, Victoria, who is now a fashion designer and businesswoman, in 1999. Thanks to a combination of sports and entertainment credentials paired with savvy business instincts, "Posh and Becks" quickly became Britain's best-known power couple.
They have four children together: three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and one daughter, Harper, 14.

There has been widespread media speculation about a rift in the Beckham family since Brooklyn's wedding to Nicola Peltz in 2022, but Brooklyn's six-page statement, shared with his 16.1 million followers, is the first public acknowledgement of any bad blood.
It's been widely reported that Brooklyn did not attend his dad's 50th birthday celebrations in May.
Brooklyn now claims he was in the UK, but that his dad only agreed to see him under the condition that his wife was not invited.
'Overexplaining would most definitely backfire,' says celebrity crisis expert
Laura Beeching, the founder of the crisis management agency Honest London told Sky News she would not expect the Beckhams to comment on Brooklyn's posts in a hurry.
"Silence is definitely key here. Anything more than a minimal response risks reinforcing what Brooklyn's argument is that everything is managed and strategic," she said.
"I would suggest no explanation, no rebuttal, no expansion, because overexplaining it would most definitely backfire. As you can see in Brooklyn's very long statement, it's very emotional.
"[I tell my clients] less is more when it comes to statements, because every actual word you put into a statement, that's another thing that people can analyse and dissect. Even down to the wedding dress comment that [Brooklyn] put out.
"People have already disputed that with what was written in Vogue back in 2022, I believe, and that's the issue when you go to detail. I would be very shocked at the Beckhams speaking out on this."
The Beckham family are yet to publicly respond to Brooklyn's posts, but have shared promotional posts for Cruz's first music gig at the Courtyard Theatre in east London in March.
Meanwhile, Nicola Peltz has not commented on social media, instead sharing tributes to late fashion designer Valentino in her Instagram stories.
Sky News has contacted David and Victoria Beckham for comment.
