Raymond Williams, 61, appeared before Norwich Magistrates' Court accused of the murder of Tania Williams, in her 40s.
Officers were called to Catherine Gardens in Thorpe St Andrew, outside Norwich, just before 11.45pm on Saturday, following reports of a woman injured in the street.
The woman was declared dead at the scene, Norfolk Police said.
