Work is starting this month on installing a new pontoon in St Helier Marina.
The new L-shaped pontoon near the Lifeboat Cafe will provide more berthing options for leisure vessels.
It will be for vessels 8-10 metres long,
There will also be space for accommodation, if plans for pods are approved.
Ports of Jersey is seeking planning consent for the four berth pods which would be available to rent by sailors and to islanders.
The pontoon will measure 60 metres along its western length, 40 metres along the cross wall.
“These new pontoons will be a better use of the space, which is currently used to store unused pontoons and a working barge platform. It will also benefit the boating community by providing more berthing options and tidying up that area of the marina.” - Kim Gilbraith, Events and Projects Support Manager.
Geomarine has been contracted to do the work, which is due to be completed in November.
