WATCH: Fire Service unveils newest firefighting asset

Jersey Fire and Rescue Service has delivery of a new state of the art Aerial Ladder Platform.

The platform can extend to a height of 45 metres, that's almost 150 feet.

JFRS says it has been brought in to help reach Jersey's tallest housing blocks and rescue people safely in case of an emergency.

Firefighters are describing it as a 'game-changer' and 'powerful piece of kit'.  It weighs 26 tonnes, which is around double the weight of a standard fire engine,

In a social media post, JFRS, and asks us to give it room on the island's roads if it's heading to an emergency. 

"When you see if coming with blue lights and sirens, we need your help.

"It's bigger than a standard fire engine, so please make sure you give us the space we need.

"You never know when we might be on our way to save someone's life, or even yours."
