Two people have died following a crash in Grouville.
All emergency services were called to Rue de Fauvic at around 9.30pm on Saturday (5 August) to reports of two people being involved in a ‘serious road traffic collision’.
Police say two male pedestrians had been walking in the direction of St Clement’s Church when they were struck by a vehicle that did not stop at the scene.
It happened prior to the junction of Rue au Long and La Route des Cotils.
Police found debris from a white vehicle on the road.
The two people were taken to hospital, where police say great efforts were made to save them, but both sadly died from their injuries later that night.
Following an extensive search, a white van with substantial damage to its front end was found in St Helier.
A 28 year old man was arrested on Sunday morning on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an RTC.
He remains in custody.
Police want to speak to anyone who has information about what happened or any CCTV footage from the area of the crash.
Witnesses are asked to call 612612 and select option 2, then option 4, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
