Three Olympic gold medalists to race in 2025 Jersey Supertri

Three Olympians are making their way to the Waterfront this September to race in the Supertri.

Olympic triathletes Jonathan Brownlee, Georgia Taylor Brown, and Cassandre Beaugrand will compete in this year's event.

Jonathan Brownlee has established himself as British triathlon 'royalty', alongside his older brother Alistair, and has won three Olympic medals throughout his career.

He achieved a bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics, a silver in Rio 2016 and secured gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as part of a mixed relay team, which included fellow SuperTri athlete, Georgia Taylor Brown.

Georgia is the most decorated athlete in Supertri history, recently finishing second in Chicago, and says:

"One big reason I came back to Supertri this year – when I saw that Jersey was back on the calendar."

She became a British, World, Commonwealth and Olympic Champion despite suffering some major injuries during her career.

The three-time SuperTri Champion has also won a silver medal in the individual women’s triathlon in Tokyo 2020, despite getting a flat tyre during the race.

And, last but by no means least, Cassandre Beaugrand is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s individual triathlon.

She rose to fame in France after winning gold in her hometown of Paris in 2024.

Cassandre also took home bronze in the mixed relay event in Tokyo 2020 and, according to SuperTri, will be a strong competitor.

It marks Jersey's fifth Supertri and the first in four years, after the inaugural race in 2017.

32 professional triathletes will tackle three back-to-back 300m swims, 1.6km runs and 4km cycles on 21 September.

Michael D’Hulst, CEO and Co-Founder of Supertri, says triathlon here is more than a race; it totally brings the island to life.

"With routes that embrace marina views and tight turns, Jersey is the perfect backdrop for Supertri and ideal for athletes and spectators looking for fast-paced action and a fun race atmosphere."

The SupterTri action will begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday, 21 September, following the RBC Race for the Kids, where islanders of all ages and athletic abilities can take on a 2.5k, 5k or 10k challenge to raise money for Jersey Child Care Trust.
