A sea swimmer had to be rescued in Jersey after being found nearly 300 metres offshore.
Fire crews brought the man safely to shore near Havre des Pas this morning (30 September).
Station Commander Mark Bailey-Walker said:
"Sea swimming is a great way to enjoy Jersey's coastline, but conditions can change quickly.
"If you're planning a longer swim, we’d recommend letting Jersey Coastguard know your plans beforehand.
"We also recommend wearing appropriate swimwear and using a tow float or other suitable flotation device to improve your visibility and buoyancy in the water."
Anyone planning to swim is being urged to :
- Familiarise themselves with the conditions
- Be aware of tides and currents
- Avoid swimming alone if possible
