St John's main road closures until February 2027

La Grande Route de St Jean will be closed in sections over the next 15 months as bigger sewage pipes are laid.

St John's main road will be closed in sections between the St Helier Parks depot and Sion village from November 2025 until February 2027.

This is so contractors working for the government can upgrade the sewage network, which is at maximum capacity.

The work will be done in 10 phases.

It is part of a wider project to reduce flood risks and to connect new and existing houses to the sewage network.

The current 400mm pipes running along St John's main road will be replaced by 600mm pipes to handle 'higher flows' from Sion to the water treatment facilities at Bellozanne.

Two contractors will work on the upgrades at the same time, meaning there might be more than one section closed at a time.

Closures will move along the road as the works are completed.

There will be several drop-in sessions this month for islanders to ask questions about the project:
