Regional Isolation Approach From 2 September

People coming from certain regions of the UK, France and Republic of Ireland will be subject to stricter isolation rules from Wednesday 2 September.

The regional approach for arrivals to Jersey from the UK, France, and the Republic of Ireland will come into effect from next Wednesday (2 September)

For France it will be by department, it'll be by county in Ireland, with the UK separated by 'upper-tier local authority.'

The government says the regions affected and what colour they'll be classified as will be announced tomorrow (Friday 28 August).

There have been calls for regional rather than country-wide assessments after spikes in the likes of St Malo, Marseille, and Paris in France and Greater Manchester, parts of East Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire in England.

Despite increases in infection in certain areas of the UK, it's still treated as green - which means incoming passengers don't have to isolate before results come through.

France is amber, which means arrivals can only leave quarantine after two negative test results taken five days apart.

Meanwhile, the Canary Islands will be individually upgraded on the traffic light system from this Saturday (29 August).

Tenerife and Fuerteventura will move from green to amber, while Gran Canaria and Lanzarote will go straight from green to red.

La Palma will stay green.

As announced earlier this week, Liechtenstein and the British Virgin Islands will move to amber status from tomorrow (Friday 28 August), with Andorra, Belize, Gibraltar, and Malta moving up to red.

A press conference hosted by the Chief Minister is going to be held at 2pm tomorrow.
