Politicians have approved calls for all new housing developments in St Helier to provide at least one parking space for every flat or house.
A call to compel developers to provide parking for all new flats built in town has succeeded.
Politicians voted for the change, with 26 votes for, 11 votes against.

Town Constable Simon Crowcroft proposed that planners factor that in 'where practicable'.
Those in opposition said the idea would make town housing more unaffordable.
The Constable disagrees:
"I think if we start telling developers that it is a right of people, particularly living in town, to have a parking space, when you design a building, the first couple of floors can be parking."
"You don't have to go underground."
