Mind Gives New Parents 'Helping Hand'

Mind Jersey's perinatal services have collected donations of new and used baby supplies to give parents a 'Helping Hand'.

New and expecting parents are invited to pick up as little or as much as they want on Saturday 2 December.

The charity set up the initiative to help with rising costs of living.

Islanders have been dropping off mounds of items from highchairs to baby formula, and prams to clothes for both mum and baby.

Shelley Daley, one of the organisers, says the team has been blown away and the drop-in centre is bursting at the seams.

"We put out a post on social media asking for items which would be suitable for expectant parents and parents with young children and we have quite literally been blown away with the amount of new and used donations we have received.

Because of this incredible generosity, it means that this event will then support more parents and families."

Parents of toddlers and young children also have the chance to pop down and pick up new books, toys and clothing up to the age of five.

"We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the Jersey community.

In addition to the donations that we have received, we have been really touched by the many Amazon boxes that have been arriving at our office that have been filled with nappies, wipes formula and these beautiful books that we will be able to give to families on Saturday."

The Mind Jersey Drop-in Centre can be found on Seale Street, in town, open between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Parents who need extra emotional support can access a perinatal peer service, a mum's meet at Pip's Place and a wellbeing programme called Mum's Matter.
