The Mansell Collection is reducing its operations in Jersey after a sharp fall in motorcycle sales and customer spending.
In a statement on social media, the company says it will cut stock levels and scale back parts of the business as part of a restructuring programme.
Workshop capacity for repairs and servicing is also expected to be reduced.
Owner Greg Mansell says the downturn could threaten the future of motorcycle manufacturer representation in the island.
"We have worked extremely hard over the years to build an offering that we believe the Island deserves.
“The concern now is not simply about one business or another. With the sharp and sustained decline in demand we are currently experiencing, it is becoming increasingly difficult to see how the present level of manufacturer representation can be maintained.
“What we ultimately stand to lose is choice, local stock, manufacturer representation, servicing, expertise and support for riders in Jersey. Once that infrastructure disappears, it is incredibly difficult to rebuild."
The Mansell Collection is the dealer for brands including BMW Motorrad, Triumph Motorcycles, Ducati, KTM, Kawasaki, and Royal Enfield.
The renovated Art Deco Era building at First Tower was acquired by former F1 champion Nigel Mansell in 2012 and opened it the following year as a car dealership and F1 museum.
The visitor attraction was closed in 2019, and in 2023 the family business shifted their focus to motorcycles, acquiring the established local business Bikers the following year.
Greg Mansell says he hopes the downturn is temporary, but that the business has to respond to the current conditions and shape its offering by local demand.
