A new 3G pitch at La Moye School has been officially opened.
The previous field was unusable for most of the year because it was very sandy in the summer and very muddy in the winter.
Work on a new playing surface began earlier this year.
Headteacher John Baudains says the new all-weather facility will give children better opportunities:
“This new facility, which will be used every day for playtimes, lunchtimes, as well as PE lessons and after school clubs, ensures children have a safe, all-weather surface. The area is unrecognisable from the previous field, which was uneven, unsuitable for many sports, and unusable for much of the year. This fabulous new facility is supporting our new PE curriculum, designed to ensure all children have the best possible opportunities and skills, as well as forming positive attitudes about leading a healthy, active lifestyle.”
HM Receiver General, Alan Blair cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony, as the pitch is on Crown Land.
“Credit must go to the designers, contractors, the Education Department and to John Baudains, the Head at La Moye School and his staff, who have all contributed to turning a very good idea into such a fantastic facility, which will be enjoyed for many years to come.”
Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq will appear in court charged with multiple offences, with some relating to indecent images of children and extreme pornography.
