June confirmed as warmest on record

Jersey Met has confirmed last month was the warmest June since records began in 1894.

We had an official heatwave, with three days running above 28°Celsius, and the month ended on the hottest ever June day of 33.4°C

That topped the 33.2°C  recorded on 17 June 2022.

There were three June days above 30°C, and the average temperature across the month was 18.7°C compared to the 30 year average of 16.3°C.

The sea was warmer too, reaching 16.1°C compared to an average 14.8°C.

Rainfall for the month was round what is usual for the time of year, but we had around 18 hours more sunshine, with a total 280.4 hours recorded.

There is another heatwave on the way for Jersey, with temperatures in the high twenties from Thursday (10 July) and into next week, predicted to peak at 30°C on Sunday (30 June).

The current sea temperature is 17.3°C.
