Residents at Cherry Orchard Court in Jersey have been evacuated after a reported smell of gas in the area this morning (1 July).
Island Energy is at the scene after the Fire Service was called at around 8.30 am.
In a statement, Jersey Fire and Rescue said:
"The States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service were called to support Island Energy this morning at Cherry Orchard Court, Valley Road, following two separate reports of a smell of gas in the area, just after 8:30am.
"Island Energy are on scene.
"A number of residents were evacuated as a precaution and are being supported by Andium Homes. States of Jersey Police also attended."
The estate is cordoned off, and people are being asked to avoid the area.
The Parish of St Saviour said:
"The Parish is aware that residents at Cherry Orchard Court were evacuated this morning following a reported smell of gas.
"Our immediate priority is the safety and welfare of those affected. The Parish is assisting residents at the Parish Hall and providing temporary support while suitable accommodation arrangements are being secured.
"We would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation, and also acknowledge the emergency services and partner agencies involved in responding to the incident."
