
A French fishing vessel was detained yesterday (24 June) after being found fishing in Jersey’s territorial waters without the appropriate licence.
Yesterday, (24 June) an unlicensed French fishing boat was detained for fishing in Jersey’s territorial waters.
They were intercepted by the Government of Jersey’s Fisheries Protection Vessel.
The trawler did not hold a valid licence to operate in Jersey waters.
The catch was returned to sea and the vessel was escorted to St Helier Harbour, where it was formally detained.
The skipper of the vessel has appeared in the Magistrates Court this morning ( 25 June), and the outcome was a fine of £1,500.
The detention notice has been lifted and he is free to leave.
