Farnham's planned Council of Ministers confirmed

The Chief Minister's picks to join him in government have all been confirmed by the new States Assembly.

All but two of the elections were uncontested, with Deputy Montfort Tadier's challenge to become Sustainable Economic Development Minister unsuccessful, as was Deputy Hilary Jeune's bid for Housing Minister.

Senator Lyndon Farnham's Ministerial colleagues are:

  • Senator Tom Binet - Health Minister
  • Senator Helen Miles - Justice and Home Affairs Minister
  • Senator Ian Gorst - External Relations Minister
  • Senator Elaine Millar - Social Security Minister
  • Deputy Catherine Curtis - Education and Lifelong Learning Minister
  • Constable Richard Vibert - Children and Families Minister
  • Senator Mary Le Hegarat - Environment Minister
  • Deputy Malcolm Ferey - Housing Minister
  • Deputy Jonathan Renouf - Infrastructure Minister
  • Deputy Carolyn Labey - International Development Minister
  • Deputy Gerald Voisin - Sustainable Economic Development Minister
  • Senator Alan Maclean - Treasury Minister

Senator Sir Mark Boleat will be appointed Regulation and Planning Minister next month, when the role is officially created under parliamentary rules.

After his team was confirmed, Senator Farnham said:

"I would remind members this is a moment of responsibility, not of celebration.

"The electorate has placed their trust in this assembly to deliver, and they will judge us not by our words today, but by the difference we make to their lives over the next four years.

"Families are facing cost-of-living pressures, the young people hoping for an affordable home, the patients waiting for care, the businesses looking for confidence, and the communities depending on strong public services.

"Islanders expect delivery now, not distraction. They expect us to work together where we can, to disagree respectfully where it is necessary, but always to put Jersey first."

Scrutiny panel chairs will also be appointed today.
