'Don't Panic' Over Exam Results

Skills Jersey is urging GCSE and sixth form students not to panic ahead of picking up their exam results this month.

The service is available to help students look for alternative courses, take gap years or find jobs.

A level results are out this Thursday (15th August) with GCSE results out the week after (22nd August)

Careers Adviser Rob Campbell says there's always someone who can give advice.

"We've already had a few people talking about university places, about clearing, an adjustment and the world of university.

"There are lots of these words that people may not know or understand so please feel free to give us a call."

The top five tips for students are:

  • Be proud - Students should be proud of their achievements, whether they receive the grades they were hoping for or not. There will be something out there that is right for everyone – so those receiving results should keep calm, look at all their options, and get as much advice as possible.
  • Don't panic; there are always options - There is still time for those receiving their results to look at options, and to make a decision.
  • Speak up and seek advice - Students will be able to speak to careers teachers and careers advisers at their schools on results day, to talk through their results and their next steps.
  • Keep results at hand - Students should keep their results with them on results day, as they will need to have these to hand when speaking to advisers about their options.
  • Know your options - Careers teachers or Skills Jersey’s Careers Guidance team can arrange for students to talk to course tutors about further education opportunities.

Anyone looking for guidance can visit Skill Jersey at Bermuda House (beside Green Street Car Park), book an appointment by contacting the
