Chief Minister Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The Chief Minister has tested positive for coronavirus.

Senator John Le Fondre is isolating at home after returning a positive lateral flow test.

He's used the news to call on islanders to register for the free test-at-home kits.

The government is advising that islanders take lateral flows at least twice a week.

Positive tests have to be submitted online and followed up with a confirmatory PCR swab.

The Chief Minister, via Microsoft Teams, met Guernsey politicians earlier today, along with Senators Lyndon Farnham and Ian Gorst, to discuss 'a range of issues', including 'sea transport links', following news that Guernsey's government is actively negotiating with Condor to buy a new passenger ferry to improve services.

He is a member of the Jersey Alliance Party, which is scheduled to host an event this coming weekend to elect the first leader of the party,

That person will be its candidate to run for Chief Minister.

He will work from home for this week's States sitting, which begins tomorrow (8 February).
