Channel 103 Remains Britain's Most Listened-To Local Radio Station

Channel 103 is still the most listened-to local radio station anywhere in the British Isles.

New listening figures from RAJAR show 2,000 more people tuned in each week during the last three months of 2021 compared to the previous quarter.

More than six in ten adults in Jersey now listen to the station every week.

In terms of how many islanders are reached, Channel 103's nearest competitor - BBC Radio 1 - attracted a 30% weekly reach and 12.5% market share. BBC Radio Jersey has a 24% weekly reach and 11.7% market share.

Guernsey's Island FM remains the number one station in the bailiwick with a 31.1% market share, the second-highest anywhere in the UK, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. The station's weekly audience in Guernsey grew by 1,600 people compared to the previous quarter.

Together with Channel 103, the two stations now have a collective audience of 84,500 people across the Channel Islands, listening for 939,600 hours.

The stations' Managing Director James Keen says despite now being able to choose from 40 stations on digital radio and thousands more online, local radio appears to be as important as ever for islanders:

"With listeners across Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney now able to enjoy an even greater selection of stations on DAB, it’s fantastic to see that local content continues to connect.

"These figures are proof that the dedicated teams in Jersey and Guernsey really know what makes the islands tick."
