Automated medication dispensers to be rolled out in Jersey

The ‘Automated Medication Dispensers Project' is backed by funding from Impact Jersey.

Delivered by Evondos in collaboration with local GPs, pharmacies and care providers, will trial an automated medication dispensing system in islanders’ homes.

It aims to ensure that those who rely on regular medication receive the right doses at the right time, helping to reduce missed or incorrect medication use while also supporting independent living.

The system can also monitor vital signs such as heart rate and Sp02, and connect with care teams and pharmacies, enabling faster responses where support is needed.

It will be trialled over a ten-month pilot, and is facilitated by Four Health and Castle Quay pharmacy.

Jersey Project Manager, Maddy Dadson said:

"A person just needs to let us now that they want to partake and the care team at Four Health will take care of everything - sorting and ordering medication and supporting the user with getting used to the device.

"It's an opportunity for people who maybe would have had to rely on in-person care visits for their medication to access a cheaper alternative to what can be really expensive visits.

"They also can have their independence, they're not stuck at home waiting for someone to come and give them their meds.

"The project has been awarded just over £77,500 through the Impact Jersey Innovation Programme, with additional matched funding from the delivery team."

It is the third project to receive support through the Innovation Programme, which is delivered by Digital Jersey to test and scale innovative solutions that address local challenges.
