76% Of Care Home Residents Fully Vaccinated

76% of care home residents in Jersey have received both doses of a coronavirus vaccine, as of Sunday 24 January.

That's according to the latest data released by the government today.

74% of the over 80s have had the first dose, with 11% getting both.

8,334 first doses have been given to all islanders so far, along with 3,051 second doses - bringing the total administered to 11,385.

That's an increase of 3,531 on the previous week.

Jersey is now back above the UK for doses per 100,000 of the population.

Islanders at a higher-risk of illness or death if they get coronavirus should receive a letter today inviting them to book a vaccine appointment from Monday 1 February.

Islanders aged 70-74 can also book from the same date, but they won't receive a letter beforehand.

More news is expected by Monday 1 February at the latest on a plan to allow visitors to care homes again.
