Plans for 128 new homes in St Peter have been approved.

They will be built on three fields off La Grande Route De St Pierre in the village.

Developers sought permission for 13 four bedroom and 95 three bedroom houses, 8 two bedroom bungalows and 4 two bedroom and 8 one bedroom apartments.

More than half of the estate is earmarked for affordable housing through Andium's Assisted Purchase Pathway. 45% will be for rent.

The extension to the village has been controversial, as neighbours of the site told the Planning Committee only 'some' were consulted.  Several expressed concern about the planned entrance to the estate.

Parish Constable Richard Vibert spoke in support of the application by Forge Developments, saying there is an urgent need for family homes in this parish

"The economy will slowly die without new residents."

The plans were recommended for approval by officers, and unanimously agreed by the committee.

They include 206 parking spaces, shared open space, electric bike charging, a play area and pavilion, plus a bus stop and improve walking and cycling routes.

Chair of the Planning Committee, Constable Philip Le Sueur said:

"Clearly a lot of effort has been put into the architectural design.”
