The Bailiwick's Coronation Plans

The Bailiwick has a variety of events planned this weekend to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

Saturday 6 May

Guernsey's Coronation Parade will assemble at the Belvedere Field in Fort George at 10.15AM. After a review by the Deputy Bailiff, the parade will march down Le Val des Terres and along the South Esplanade to the Model Yacht Pond near Castle Cornet.

Between 10AM and 11AM church bells at Town, Vale, Forest and St Peter’s churches will ‘Ring for the King’.

A 21-Gun salute will be fired from Castle Cornet at midday.

The KGV Playing Fields are screening the coverage of the Coronation from 10AM till 4PM.

In Alderney, a Street Party will run from 2.15PM until 4.30PM at the Island Hall. The Town Crier will open the event.

The Coronation Inn will be showing the live broadcast of the Service in London from 11AM, and a one-gun salute will be heard at 1 o'clock.

The Fort Albert event has been cancelled, due to the wet forecast.

A screening of the ceremony will also be held at Sark's Island Hall with refreshments available.

Sunday 7 May

An Eat Drink and Be Local Seafront Sunday will run from 10AM, combining elements from the ‘Big Lunch’ - a national event encouraging British people to get together.

The KGV Playing Fields will screen the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle from 5PM till 10PM. 

At 6PM Town Church is holding a special Coronation Service.

At sunset, Guernsey will take part in "Lighting up the Nation". Castle Cornet, Fort Grey, and Beau Sejour will be lit up, in red, white and blue.

Residents in Alderney can attend a special service at St Anne's Church from 10AM and listen to live music at the Corporation Quarry Lower Road, from midday.

Sark's St Peters Parish Church is hosting a special service from 11AM.
