Following a consultation period the maximum fare will be going up by 3%.
The Committee for Environment and Infrastructure has agree for the increase to take effect from the 31st January.
To allow for this the Standing Charge will be increasing for the first time in 10 years.
However; we can now travel further on the initial charge - with the taximeter starting to increase in increments of 20p after 1300 yards.
There was a two week consultation period where only four people contacted the states about the increase. You can see a breakdown of the increase below:
A 2.0 mile journey on tariff 1* will increase from £7.00 to £7.10
A 4.0 mile journey on tariff 1* will increase from £11.00 to £11.30;
A 3.0 mile journey on tariff 2* will increase from £12.40 to £12.90
A 5.0 mile journey on tariff 2* will increase from £18.00 to £18.70
