St Peter Port hosts 5th Street Festival

Musicians, dancers, and storytellers have swarmed upon St Peter Port for the fifth annual Street Festival.

The fortnight of entertainment in town was launched in 2020 to provide a platform for local and visiting talent.

There are multiple locations set up with festival tents and banners where artists perform throughout the day.

Local band Arson, from the School of Popular Music, performed in Church Square this morning (31 August).

Band member Lara says it is a great experience.

"It is really good, this is my second year doing it.

"I'd recommend it for anyone who wants to gain stage experience, because it helps your confidence so much."

Drummer, Ella, was happy with her performance.

"It is strange seeing people walk by, but I enjoy seeing them enjoying it.

"I think everyone wants us to do well, so we have fun."

This year's Street Festival concludes on 9 August.

An awards ceremony will take place the night before at the OGH Hotel, honouring individuals for their contributions.

This year, for the first time, a festival organiser or volunteer will be recognised with the new Jack Honeybill Trophy, named in memory of the event's late Finance Officer.

Around the corner, children and adults alike gathered in front of the Town Church to watch a Punch and Judy puppet show.
