Some Guernsey parish rate bills sent out late

Householders in St Peter Port have been receiving their rates bills AFTER the due by date.

Island FM has been contacted by a number of parishioners in St Peter Port who have received their annual parish rates bill this year after its due by date.

Normally, rates, which cover refuse and an amount based on the property's size, are sent out in March with a due by date of early April.

This year some householders either did not receive a bill or one that had already passed its due by date.

The Dean of the St Peter Port Douzaine, Barry Cash, says people have one month from the due by date to pay, which is effectively early May.

He says the problem stems from a glitch with a parish database called LAPIS.
